the Night Miles have a long lineage of regional talent going back 25-30 years. Matt Medellin (drums) and Chad Garrett (guitarist) played together 25+ years ago in Bone China and the Maplehelm. Chad went dormant after those bands dissolved but never quit writing and Matt was always in demand and never stopped drumming with a list of musicians too numerous to name. After a two show Maplehelm reunion in 2022 the band fell apart and left drummer Matt Medellin and guitarist Chad Garrett energized and wanting more. Not looking to stop, the two quickly regrouped with local vocal legend Michael Vasquez (Petting Zoo/Syrus) and started writing and recording all new material. “We were practically recording every weekend and the songs just kept coming.” Chad says.  After giving the demos out to friends it became clear that they were on to something special.  Michael left the band after two years sighting that it was just too much work.  Chad (who wrote all the material) quickly stepped in to take over singing duties.  Local session multi instrumentalist Val Cronk has been present since the start on keys and bass as they recorded and even more solidified the sound and line up. Eventually Val switched to Bass full time. Struggling to find a a new keyboardist to fill out the sound Val said "Why not just get another guitarist?", the name Denny Bowen kept popping up. Denny ran in the same 90's circles as the Bone China crew and he and Matt played together in Napoleon Machine Gun. Denny has never quit playing and he reached out and said he wanted to jam.  “When Denny showed up to rehearsal it just clicked” says Matt. The energy that Denny brought was palpable. It was the missing piece of the puzzle. With a near sold out first show at Sam’s, the band is chomping at the bit to get this music heard. Lets Rock! the Night Miles
